Mike Davies from Ormskirk Nr liverpool

Just wanted to share my recent experience  in the hope it may
help someone. I have been with PS for over 6 yrs and always worked from a
room in the house. Last year we put the house up for sale as we wanted
something bigger with somewhere separate that I could work from with less
distractions. The main distractions have come over the last 2 years with the
birth of my son and as he seems to now have an obsession with phones I find
myself running to the phone in my office (if I had just nipped out) and
catching his fingers in the door as I try to beat him to the room! Didn't get
any offers on our house so in December we took it off the market and looked
at plan B. We had a garage which was like most peoples garage full of junk
rather than full of my car so decided that I would build an office in its
place. I looked at all the alternatives incl brick built, sectional concrete
buildings and Log Cabins. The log cabins from a cost point of view where
pretty good but I decided that the maintenance would be a pain in the neck
having to treat it every year. I decided to go for a large building (as if
you don't you always regret these things later on) and went for a 25ft by

13ft building. Due to the size I have been able to put a partition wall in
giving me a utility room/gym as well as a 17x13 office which is way bigger
than most peoples large bedroom. The building I went for is a sectional
concrete type which has a brick effect and looks not much different to a
brick built building. It comes fully double glazed with 5 lever locking door
fully insulated and lined out and includes as many electric sockets as you
want/need. The company even paint it in the colour of your choice prior to
arriving on site. All I have had to do is get my electrician to connect it
to the mains, added a security alarm and some lights in the ceiling tiles
and then me and a mate fitted a wooden floor and job done. The guys came
down from Oxford (I live nr Liverpool) and will travel all over the country
(they had just fitted one in Scotland the week before
mine) and 3 of them had the building up in one day and took a further 2 days
to line it all out insulate it and put all the wiring in and did a top notch
job I must say. I am sat here now typing away in complete peace and quiet
and very warm even though its blowing a Gail and bleeding freezing outside.
I did have quotes from 4k (just for a wooden shell and a thin one at that)
to around 25k for the modern fashion statement type office. In the end I got
the lot for less than four figures and think its the best money I have ever
spent. The only drawback now is the commute to work takes 30 seconds longer
and I need to change out of my Jim Jams otherwise the neighbours may start
complaining. . Best thing I ever did and it cost me about the same as the
stamp duty on the new house I never bought!

Regards,
